STRIVE DC is part of The Work Place DC (TWPDC), a cooperative venture combining the expertise of a range of nonprofit organizations committed to co-location and to a shared philosophy of service. We work together to resolve the seemingly intractable challenges wrought by sustained and widespread unemployment and deep and longstanding poverty in the District.
The Work Place DC was founded in 2009 to address the challenge of high unemployment and poverty among District residents facing particularly high barriers to finding and keeping a good job. TWPDC partner agencies serve those residents who have lower levels of literacy, less work experience, and specific challenges such as a record of incarceration, poor physical or mental health, a lack of training in fields with the prospect of high levels of job creation, and/or poor access to the services and resources necessary to work.
By combining our expertise, we offer clients coordinated and holistic services. Our ultimate goal is to co-locate, so we can offer a variety of services under one roof. Until we reach that goal, we are working together in a virtual way; as possible, client services are being coordinated between TWPDC partner organizations.
We Salute our TWPDC Partners:
- Academy of Hope (adult literacy)
- Byte Back (computer training)
- DC Jobs Council (workforce development advocacy/systems change)
- Free Minds Book Club and Writing Workshop (disconnected youth)
- Jubilee Jobs (job placement)
- LIFT-DC (case management)
