On Friday, January 8th, 2016 STRIVEDC kicked off the 2016 workforce development training year. Twenty-five individuals arrived along with a potential employer, Tonya Patton, East Regional HR Manager for First Transit, board members Karen Zizmor founding member and president of the board, Sharon Schroer and four staff from our community partner Samaritan Ministries. This session is called Group Interaction/Second Interview. During this session participants met STRIVE DC Staff, received an overview of the three week class along with dress codes, attendance and punctuality requirements. At the close of the session participants were asked to take a card if, they planned to return on Monday to start the training. 17 individuals returned on returned on Monday, January 11th for the first class.
